Our Client, a leading provider in the data center industry, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Regional Vice President of Construction to oversee the end-to-end delivery of data center projects. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Design and Construction, this role is pivotal in managing the construction process from conception through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and aligned with corporate goals.
The VP will work closely with Sales, Operations, Acquisitions, Innovation, and Engineering teams to integrate designs and manage partner relationships, focusing on long-term operational sustainability and value engineering. As the company continues to expand, this role will be instrumental in driving change management and product optimization across new and ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Oversight: Lead and manage construction operations across all active markets, including master planning, concept design, and standards and technical review. Oversee construction project managers responsible for each campus, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and adherence to financial controls and policies.
- Project Management: Direct all aspects of construction project management, including RFP development, budgeting, pre-bid planning, and coordination. Supervise design-build and design-bid-build contractors, ensuring on-site construction activities are executed safely, on schedule, and within scope and budget.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a thought leader and coordinate with internal stakeholders across all regions, integrating inputs from design, operations, and client teams. Engage with customers throughout the sales lifecycle, ensuring satisfaction and addressing service issues in future builds.
- Financial Management: Manage CAPEX budgets, perform financial reporting, forecasting, cash-flow analysis, and review contractor billing. Collaborate with the Finance team to drive cost reductions, variance analysis, and execute project authorizations for new and existing contractors and vendors.
- Vendor and Contractor Management: Develop and maintain relationships with contractors and vendors, overseeing contract negotiations and ensuring all partners meet project and compliance requirements. Conduct safety walks and drive compliance with company EHS policies.
- Process Improvement and Change Management: Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement by documenting and implementing lessons learned, cost-saving initiatives, and schedule optimizations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Team Development: Build and manage a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and team-oriented environment. Provide coaching and feedback to direct reports, ensuring optimal resource allocation and project workflow.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in mission-critical construction management, with a strong preference for data center experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven expertise in managing complex construction projects, including budget oversight, schedule management, and stakeholder coordination.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to drive change and influence cross-functional teams.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with proficiency in MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
