SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF PRECONSTRUCTION

Our Client, a leading player in the construction industry, is seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Vice President of Preconstruction to oversee all preconstruction activities and drive project success. This executive-level role will be critical in developing and implementing preconstruction strategies, estimating methodologies, and value engineering solutions, all aimed at supporting business growth, project profitability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preconstruction Leadership: Provide strategic oversight for all preconstruction functions, including conceptual estimating, budgeting, bidding, value engineering, and preconstruction planning. Develop and execute comprehensive preconstruction strategies and processes to deliver accurate, competitive proposals that align with client needs and project goals.
  • Estimating and Budgeting: Lead the estimating team in preparing detailed project estimates, budgets, and proposals based on a thorough analysis of project scope, specifications, drawings, and current market conditions. Review bid documents, subcontractor quotes, and material costs to identify opportunities for cost savings, risk mitigation, and maximizing project profitability.
  • Value Engineering: Collaborate with clients, design teams, and project stakeholders to identify and implement value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions that enhance project value, quality, and performance. Lead workshops, cost-saving analyses, and risk assessments to optimize outcomes and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors. Act as a trusted advisor and partner, providing proactive guidance, innovative solutions, and value-added services throughout the preconstruction phase.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing preconstruction team, including estimators, managers, and support staff. Foster a collaborative culture of excellence and continuous improvement, empowering team members to achieve departmental objectives and contribute to the company's success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional certifications are preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in preconstruction management, estimating, and business development within the construction industry, with a successful track record in leading preconstruction efforts for large-scale commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of preconstruction best practices, estimating methodologies, value engineering principles, and construction technologies. Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents, specifications, and drawings is essential.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, develop relationships, and collaborate effectively with clients, partners, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving innovation, process improvements, and business growth in a competitive market environment.
