SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF DEVELOPMENT

The HGI Construction & Development team is partnered with a Maryland-based Real Estate Developer to help them bring on a dynamic and experienced Senior Vice President of Development to spearhead major development projects across the country. As a key member of the leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction of their development initiatives while ensuring the successful execution of each project from inception to completion.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight to ensure the successful execution of all development projects, meeting program, schedule, budgetary, and profitability goals
  • Oversee all aspects of project development, including due diligence, entitlements, design, financing, construction, marketing/leasing, and stabilization
  • Develop, manage, and interpret project proformas in collaboration with company leadership to ensure financial objectives are met
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with state and local jurisdictions, leading community and political outreach efforts to secure land entitlements and development approvals
  • Lead and manage internal and external project teams, including consultants and contractors, throughout all phases of project execution
  • Negotiate legal documents and procure necessary permits to facilitate project development
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and scopes to ensure timely delivery of key milestones
  • Collaborate with senior construction staff to oversee change order reviews and forecasting
  • Provide regular project reporting and operational/performance reviews to ensure compliance with business plans
  • Lead branding, marketing, and placemaking efforts in collaboration with marketing consultants

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a focus on business, finance, architecture, construction management, or civil engineering preferred, Master’s degree/MBA in Real Estate is highly desirable
  • 10-15+ years of development execution experience within reputable investment/development organizations, with a track record of successfully leading large, complex, mixed-use development projects
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, and motivational skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to make timely decisions independently
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to develop and interpret complex financial models
  • Proven ability to drive consensus and develop relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Outstanding negotiation and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment in navigating complex jurisdictional issues
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in a creative, hands-on environment
